New Apartment Building Planned on Cedar Street in Port Richmond

On January 21, 2019

Port Richmond is an old neighborhood in the Lower Northeast section of Philadelphia. It has many row-homes and some apartment buildings. Over the years, new development has been happening in Port Richmond, including townhouses and apartment buildings. Allegheny and Aramingo Avenues are two of the busiest commercial districts in the neighborhood, with strip malls and other stores, and now a new apartment building is planned nearby, within walking distance of the shopping district. The site is at 3211 Cedar Street on a formerly industrial site.

This new apartment building is being developed by Weizer Management and designed by ID Design Build, LLC. It will be five stories tall, but the fourth and fifth floors will be set back from the edge. It will have thirty-five rental units and 5,000 square feet of artist studio spaces on the first floor. The second and third floors will have a brick facade and recessed balconies. The upper floors will, also, have recessed balconies and a gray facade. The top will have a roof deck and a trellis with solar panels. The building will have a fitness center inside. There will be twenty-one parking spaces, including ten internal parking spaces, eight surface open spaces, and three parallel street spaces.

Port Richmond is coming a long way as industrial buildings and vacant lots are redeveloped with new housing and commercial buildings. As these sites continue to be developed, there will be more apartment buildings like the one at 3211 Cedar Street, as well as, more townhouses and retail buildings. Port Richmond is being refreshed with new activity and increased housing demand.
