New Townhouses and Apartments Planned for East Hagert Street in Fishtown

On January 9, 2019

Fishtown continues to develop with large new townhouses and apartment buildings.  As Northern Liberties and Old City have become expensive, Fishtown, East Kensington, and South Kensington have seen an explosion of this new development.  East Hagert Street is seeing some of this new development and a new luxury townhouse and apartment development is being planned by Streamline Group, and designed by Harman Deutsch Architects, at 2600 East Hagert Street.  This new development is replacing part of a large vacant lot.

This new development will have 41 housing units.  It will have eleven townhouses on Hagert Street and five six-unit apartment buildings on Boston Street.  Each townhouse and building will be four stories tall. The townhouses will have interior parking spaces and there will be fifteen surface parking spaces for the apartments.  The drive aisle will be off of Almond Street and will have permeable paving and a green wall at the end. The exterior will have Yukon white brick and charcoal gray and white metal panels, with some teak wood in the front and all teak wood in the back.  There will be small balconies in between the bay windows in the front and will be larger balconies in the rear, over the garages.

Fishtown will continue to grow.  Nearby, a large mixed-use development is being built on East Somerset Street and a new apartment building is being built on Girard Avenue.  Even more development is occurring in East and South Kensington, where more properties are available for development, and new development is planned for the waterfront.  The development at 2600 East Hagert Street is another sign of that progress.
